Sterigerms machines allow you to treat liquid as long as the proportion of liquid waste in the total waste mix does not exceed 10-20%, depending on the waste mix – if you add more absorbent materials (diapers, paper, PPE, etc.), you can also add more liquid. A larger proportion of liquid will not prevent the neutralisation of the waste, but the disk produced at the end of the process may be thicker and less compact.

The following types of biomedical waste can be treated in Sterigerms machine: syringes, needles, lancets, small sharp ampoules, disposable scalpels and blades (sharps must be placed in accredited containers), swabs, catheter tubing, intravenous bags and tubing, surgical wraps, culture tubes, dressings, gauze, bandages, personal protective equipment, dialyzers and other disposable medical devices, etc.
