Sites which are isolated or hard to reach

HOW CAN YOU GO ABOUT TREATING YOUR MEDICAL WASTE?

Treating biomedical waste is a real issue in countries or regions where there are no access to waste treatment services or where healthcare facilities can be very isolated. What alternatives do they have ?

At what kinds of facility

IS THERE AN IMPACT ON MANAGEMENT BECAUSE THEY ARE ISOLATED ?

There are two aspects involved in managing their potentially infectious clinical waste; the internal part (how the waste is produced through to how it is removed from the relevant department) and the external part (relating to the off-site technical services in charge of collecting the waste).

Sterigerms is aimed at sites which have difficulties with the collection of their clinical waste, given that they are a long way from urban areas, hard to get to or there is no access to waste management services :

  • Sites in developing countries where there are no facilities for the collection of potentially infectious clinical waste.
  • Medical bodies, rest centres in places which are hard to get to (mountains, countryside)
  • All sites which produce potentially infectious clinical waste and are a long way from major urban areas and treatment centres.

Medical waste management

IN AN ISOLATED SETTING

Even though the amount of biomedical waste may vary according to the size of the facility and the number of patients being treated there, the waste still needs to be sorted and treated to the same standards.

The amount of biomedical waste produced on sites of this kind is relative, but the transmissibility and microbiological risks must still be kept under control not only for the medical staff but also for the accredited collectors managing the transportation of the medical waste to incineration centres.

Due to being a long way from urban areas or hard to get to because of geographical location, it is crucial for each facility to be able to set up a simple, efficient on-site system to manage any potentially infectious waste.

Sterigerms® solutions

CAN HELP ISOLATED ORGANISATIONS TO TREAT THEIR MEDICAL WASTE WITH TOTAL PEACE OF MIND

Sterigerms® solutions are suitable for sites of all kinds. Their functionalities and benefits take on board the many constraints such as national and international regulations, geographical locations and cost issues. Sterigerms’ global development is the culmination of this strategy.

To be specific, STERIGERMS machines offer amazing benefits for production sites that are hard to get to or have no facility manager. They are quick and easy to install and do not require a room to be set aside solely for treating waste, they offer low power consumption thanks to a 220V plug & play system which does not exceed 3kw/h. Sterigerms staff have managed to develop and simplify the construction of these machines to make them low-maintenance.

Finally, treatment on site – by neutralising the infectious agents at 150° and compressing the potentially infectious clinical waste, thus reducing its volume by 80% – and then being able to deal with it in the same way as household waste, helps to reduce both specific transport operations and the site’s carbon footprint.
