The question

OF TREATING MEDICAL WASTE RESPONSIBLY

Private or public healthcare professionals and facilities are responsible for the treatment and disposal of any potential infectious waste they generate in their work. Whether on the production site or subsequently, once the waste has been handed over to the accredited collector – facility manager – through to the incineration centre, the producer is and remains responsible for this.

Let’s talk about the environmental constraints challenges you face

Whether you are in the public or private sector

THE IDEA OF RESPONSIBILITY IN THE TREATMENT OF POTENTIALLY INFECTIOUS CLINICAL WASTE IS A TOP PRIORITY

Even though 80% of medical waste is not dangerous, producers of waste have to adhere to strict protocols and regulations in order to limit the risks of contamination and transmissibility, but also legal or social responsibility.

Sterigerms is aimed at sites wishing to take back control over biomedical waste by simplifying the stages involved in the treatment process:

  • Public or private hospitals and clinics
  • COVID-19 facilities (testing, vaccination or specialised centres)
  • Sheltered accommodation for the elderly, rest homes
  • Railway stations and airports
  • etc.
  • TAKING RESPONSIBILITY, PROTECTION, CONTROL

AND CSR FOR SITES PRODUCING POTENTIALLY INFECTIOUS CLINICAL WASTE

Corporate social responsibility means that companies need to take environmental, social, economic and ethical issues on board – voluntarily or legally – in the way that they operate and their production processes. As far as the management of infectious medical waste is concerned, many areas of business find themselves having to deal with a responsibility over which they no longer have any control, once they have handed the second part of the treatment process over to third parties.

This means that there may be a threat to the organisation’s image and commitment, as well as the safety issues.

Sterigerms® solutions

MAKE IT EASIER TO TAKE BACK CONTROL AND MANAGE YOUR POTENTIALLY INFECTIOUS CLINICAL WASTE

Sterigerms 12L and 60L machines are recommended for all organisations which are open to the public and wish to control the human and legal risks.

In order to achieve this, health security has been the key element in the way Sterigerms staff have gone about their work – neutralising any infectious agents in the clinical waste as soon as it is sorted at the sites where it is produced. Because a plug & play system makes it easy to install and keeps its power consumption down (up to 3kw/h), it is a modern and very eco-friendly solution – plus it does not need any water to operate!

On the practical side of things, Sterigerms solutions have been designed to be very compact and ergonomic and there is no real need to set a room aside solely for this purpose. One additional benefit is the incorporation of handles and rollers which make them mobile and very easy to move from one place to another.

Another of these machines’ strengths is that they are very low maintenance, so there is no need for regular specialist work on them and they help to reduce the site’s carbon footprint, because collection by specific outside transportation organisations will no longer be essential.
